CBD for Celebrities: Which Celebrities Use CBD?

By  Dr. Mike Hansen

If a future scribe one day writes the annals of cannabis in America, it will be hard to say the exact moment when CBD went mainstream. Was it when CBD products reached the shelves of Walgreens? When CBD doggy treats became a thing? Or when Time magazine did a cover story?

When all is said and done, it would be hard to argue against April 28, 2019, as a signifying CBD moment. Because that was the day Kim Kardashian held a CBD baby shower. The reality TV show star invited a few dozen of her closest friends to her home outside Los Angeles for a party that featured a sound bath, meditation, “Yeezy slides” sandals, and CBD of every sort—salves, oils, and bath salts to take home.

“Anyone that knows me knows I am obsessed with CBD everything!” Kardashian wrote on her Instagram.

CBD for Celebrities

She’s not alone. CBD has quickly become a celebrity cause. Among the celebrities who not only use but endorse CBC use include Broadway star Olivia Wilde, beloved actor Michael J. Fox, and middle America lifestyle guru Martha Stewart. Several celebrities do more than just endorse CBD use but actually have CBD product lines.

Here are eight celebrities who use and endorse the use of CBC:

  1. Kim Kardashian

Kardashian and her husband Kanye West are not only among the biggest stars but also influencers of pop culture. What they wear, say, and do reaches tens of millions of people daily. The reality star designed her baby shower around CBD in order to calm her nerves about the pending birth of her fourth child with Kanye West via surrogate. “I thought it was kind of ridiculous to have a fourth baby shower,” Kardashian West said, according to USA Today.  “But I thought I’m freaking the (expletive) out having a fourth kid.”

  1. Martha Stewart

It doesn’t get much more mainstream than Martha Stewart, the home design and cooking star who not only uses CBD but in March announced she’d be releasing a line of CBD products. In March, a cannabis company named Canopy Growth brought Stewart on board as an adviser (how’s this for a pairing: she joins Snoop Dogg, another adviser for the company). Her role will be to help the company develop a new line of CBD products for both humans and animals, Reuters reported.

“I am delighted to establish this partnership with Canopy Growth and share with them the knowledge I have gained after years of experience in the subject of living,”  Stewart said. “I’m especially looking forward to our first collaboration together, which will offer sensible products for people’s beloved pets.”

  1. Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow launched her healthy lifestyle company Goop in 2008 with the slogan “Nourish the Inner Aspect.” Goop offered a CBD Mint Julep recipe on its website to “kick relaxation into overdrive” but substantially upped the ante last year, partnering with marijuana dispensary MedMen on a line of CBD beauty products.

Goop’s executive beauty editor Jean Godfrey-June told Forbes that this is just the beginning.

“Taking down stress is a big CBD claim, and certainly, a less-stressed person is more attractive than a super-stressed one,” she said. “Feeling better definitely translates to looking better in most cases, so CBD’s calming, analgesic properties have serious beauty and wellness potential.”

  1. Olivia Wilde

Broadway plays are often athletic feats for the actors involved, particularly those that involve dancing. A long-running play can wear their bodies down. Actress Olivia Wilde last year made headlines when she revealed her secret to staying healthy on Broadway: CBD lotion.

“I’ve been using this body lotion that has CBD from marijuana,” Wilde told the New York Times. “It’s called Lord Jones, and I discovered it through my friends in L.A. Recently I did a play on Broadway for six months, and my body was wrecked. My neck was really tight. The CBD has relaxing benefits, and the idea is to avoid using too many painkillers.”

  1. Whoopi Goldberg

“I’ve spent the better part of my life standing up for issues that were important to me,” actress, comedian, singer, writer, and entrepreneur Whoopi Goldberg wrote in an OpEd about cannabis she wrote in 2018. “My latest venture concerns a social issue near and dear to my heart: the right for women to have access to the analgesic and other therapeutic qualities of cannabis.” Her cause is helping women gain easy access to the therapeutic qualities of the marijuana plant via a product line she and cannabis pioneer Maya Elisabeth have launched, Whoopi & Maya, including Epsom salts and menstrual relief rubs infused with CBD.

  1. Willie Nelson

In the history of cannabis, the legendary musician Willie Nelson will go down as a pioneer — nearly a half-century before legalization spread throughout the U.S, he openly used and endorsed using cannabis products (he famously smoked marijuana on the roof of the White House with then-President Jimmy Carter’s nephew Chip only days after being jailed in the Bahamas for possession. “I couldn’t betray marijuana any more than I could betray a family member or lifelong friend,” Nelson wrote in his memoir.

“That’s because marijuana has never betrayed me. Unlike booze, it had never made me nasty or violent. Unlike cocaine, it never sped me up or fired up my ego.” These days, Willie, now 86, is smoking a bit less and vaping and ingesting CBD quite a bit more—his health-and-wellness brand Willie’s Remedy includes CBD-infused coffee as well as a CBD tincture.

  1. Jennifer Aniston

America’s favorite girl-next-door isn’t crusading CBD or offering a product line, but given her beloved stature, her simple declaration to US magazine carried special weight in helping mainstream CBD. “CBD helps with pain, stress, and anxiety,” Aniston told the magazine. “It has all the benefits of marijuana without the high,” she said.

  1. Michael J. Fox

Actor Michael J. Fox has long used and advocated the use of CBD. Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease 29 years ago and says CBD has been essential in slowing his tremors and extending his acting career.

“If there is anything working with CBD Oil has shown me, it’s that there is always hope. Even for the hopeless.’ Fox told the Daily Mail.
